Rsidents of chegere subcounty in apac district through their area Member of Parliament, Hon. Lemba Okello, are demanding access to 
electricity in their communities.
According to the petition, the residents from eight parishes are urgently requesting that electricity be extended to Adem Trading Centre and the nearby primary school — and that this be done without the government demanding any compensation from the locals.
The petitioning team, led by Milton Oculi, emphasized that the lack of electricity is negatively affecting education and business in the area.
He noted that three boarding schools — Adir, Adem, and Abedi Primary Schools — are currently relying on solar power, which they say is not reliable enough to support key services.
Small-scale business operators, particularly those running salons and entertainment venues, say they are among the hardest hit.
One salon operator, Solomon Agodi, expressed frustration, stating that residents who wish to watch football matches often have to travel long distances to access facilities with electricity.
Area MP, Hon. Lemba Okello of Marizi North, thanked the residents for their peaceful and coordinated effort.
He assured them that their concerns would be presented before Parliament for urgent consideration.
He stressed the importance of extending the national grid to rural communities and pledged to follow up on the matter until action is taken.
This is the third time locals in Cherege Sub-County have formally raised the issue of electricity access, highlighting the growing frustration among residents over years of inaction.
