Rsidents of chegere subcounty in apac district through their area Member of Parliament, Hon. Lemba Okello, are demanding access to electricity in their communities.

‎According to the petition, the residents from eight parishes are urgently requesting that electricity be extended to Adem Trading Centre and the nearby primary school — and that this be done without the government demanding any compensation from the locals.

‎The petitioning team, led by Milton Oculi, emphasized that the lack of electricity is negatively affecting education and business in the area.

‎He noted that three boarding schools — Adir, Adem, and Abedi Primary Schools — are currently relying on solar power, which they say is not reliable enough to support key services.

‎Small-scale business operators, particularly those running salons and entertainment venues, say they are among the hardest hit.

‎One salon operator, Solomon Agodi, expressed frustration, stating that residents who wish to watch football matches often have to travel long distances to access facilities with electricity.
‎Area MP, Hon. Lemba Okello of Marizi North, thanked the residents for their peaceful and coordinated effort.

‎He assured them that their concerns would be presented before Parliament for urgent consideration.

‎He stressed the importance of extending the national grid to rural communities and pledged to follow up on the matter until action is taken.

‎This is the third time locals in Cherege Sub-County have formally raised the issue of electricity access, highlighting the growing frustration among residents over years of inaction.
