Community turned Hospital into a lodging place.

Soroti city,Uganda|The State House Health Monitoring Unit, led by Dr. Warren Naamara, has expressed shock at the condition of Soroti Regional Referral Hospital.
This followed a community baraza held at Soroti Sports Ground, organized by the Office of the Resident City Commissioner, the City Mayor, and the Monitoring Unit team from state house.
Members of the public raised complaints of absentee of health workers,overcrowding of patients, extortion of money by some staff and a shortage of drugs and hospital beds.
During the baraza,hospital administrators also revealed that the hospital owes the National Water and Sewerage Corporation more than 700 million shillings unpaid bills.
Dr. Naamara said the baraza was intended to promote awareness of patients’ rights and ensure access to quality healthcare.
Resident City Commissioner Soroti,John Micheal Okurut have warned the community to stop turning the hospital into a lodging place.
Meanwhile, Dr. Driwale Alfred from the Institute for Health Worker Force Development called on the community to support health workers and speak positively about the hospital.
