Education stakeholders in Apac Municipality are demanding urgent action from the Municipal Council to address what they call parental neglect in the education system.

‎The call was made during the release of mock exam results last week at the Scout Hall.

‎Mr. Ben Omara, Chairperson of the Head Teachers Association, highlighted poor fee payment, late reporting of learners, and absenteeism by both learners and teachers as major challenges.

‎He urged the council to create a formal education policy to hold parents accountable.

‎However, Town Clerk noted that some learners with full support still performed poorly, suggesting teachers also bear responsibility.

‎Boys outperformed girls in all subjects with English and science subjects done poorly
Senior Inspector of Schools, Madam Molly Akello, used the platform to call for renewed focus on the education of the girl child, early completion of the syllabus, more engagement from parents, and targeted interventions to close the gender gap in performance before final exams.

‎As third term begins next week, stakeholders are calling for a united effort to improve performance.
