The Returning Officer for Apac, Mr. Joseph Omona, has sounded a serious caution to all political aspirants, urging them to strictly follow the Electoral Commission’s official roadmap.
According to Mr. Omona, the next set of nominations for the 2025 General Elections is scheduled to take place from Monday, 8th September to Wednesday, 10th September 2025, and will run for three days only.
These nominations will cover municipal-level positions, including municipal councilors.
He emphasized the need for aspirants to submit their nomination forms early to allow sufficient time for verification by the Electoral Commission.
Furthermore, the Returning Officer reminded candidates that campaign programs must be submitted to the commission by 20th October 2025 to allow for proper harmonization of campaign schedules.
He made it clear that official campaigns will only be allowed to begin on the 10th of November 2025, running through to 12th January 2026.
Any campaign activity before that date will be considered illegal.
Mr. Omona warned that any evidence of early or unauthorized campaign activity could lead to serious consequences, including the nullification of a candidate’s nomination.

This announcement comes just days after the first phase of nominations was concluded last Friday, during which two candidates were nominated for the District LC5 Chairperson seat, representing the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) respectively.
In addition, six councilors representing Special Interest Groups were nominated unopposed, marking the end of the first nomination phase.

The Electoral Commission is calling on all aspiring candidates, political parties, and the general public to respect the roadmap, avoid premature political activity, and ensure a peaceful and lawful electoral process.
