Kole District, Uganda – The Member of Parliament for Kole North, Dr. Samuel Opio Acuti, has issued a strong condemnation of corruption within the cattle restocking compensation programme, calling for immediate action against those defrauding beneficiaries. The MP made the remarks while addressing mourners at the burial of Muzee Nelson Openy in Bar-Ogil Village on Wednesday.

Dr. Acuti has called on local leaders and security agencies to intensify the fight against graft in the programme, emphasizing that impunity must not be tolerated. "Those responsible for defrauding beneficiaries should be brought to justice to restore public confidence in the programme," Dr. Acuti stated, highlighting the need for accountability to ensure the integrity of the compensation process. His call aligns with ongoing concerns raised by Lango leaders regarding the manipulation of the compensation list, where reports indicate that non-beneficiaries have profited at the expense of genuine claimants .

In a move to bolster economic recovery in the region, Dr. Acuti also announced that 4,375 households across Kole District will soon receive hand hoes. He noted that the distribution aims to improve household incomes and promote commercial agriculture among constituents.

The event also saw strong statements from clan and religious leaders. Prof. Dr. Richard Nam, the Clan Chief of Okii Amat, declared a tough crackdown on individuals engaged in land grabbing, specifically targeting the seizure of property belonging to widows and orphans. "The clan leadership will work closely with clan elders, local leaders, and government authorities to ensure that widows and orphaned children are protected from land grabbers," Prof. Nam asserted.

Addressing concerns about moral decay, Rev. George Odur of Alito Sub-county attributed the rising decline in morals to the abandonment of biblical teachings. He urged Christians, particularly young people, to return to scripture as a foundation for restoring discipline and values.
