In a summary released by the Apac District Returning Officer, Mr. Joseph Omona, to media houses today wednesday, the NRM party has emerged with the highest number of nominated candidates across the district, municipality, and division-level races.
For the District Local Government elections, the NRM has fielded 31 candidates, followed by UPC with 23, FDC with 3, and 13 independents, bringing the total number of contestants in the district to 70.
Turning to the municipal elections, the NRM again leads with 40 candidates, while UPC has 35, independents 29, and FDC with just 2 — summing up to a total of 106 candidates vying for various positions within the municipality.
At the sub-county and municipal division level, the numbers are even more telling:

NUP and FDC each have 4 candidates, and PFF has fielded 2, this brings the grand total of nominated candidates for municipality local government elections in in Apac to 400 for the upcoming elections.
Mr. Omona has also issued a stern reminder to all candidates to adhere to the Electoral Commission guidelines, urging them to submit their campaign programs before 20th October 2025 for harmonization — a move aimed at avoiding scheduling conflicts during the campaign period.
He further cautioned against engaging in early campaigns, emphasizing that the official campaign period runs from the 10th of November 2025 to the 12th of January 2026.
Any breach of this directive, he warned, may lead to legal consequences.
With the stakes high and the political atmosphere building, all eyes now turn to Apac as it prepares for one of the most competitive elections in recent memory.
