NEBBI, UGANDA – In a significant move to bolster support for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in the West Nile region, the National Female Youth Member of Parliament, Hon. Phiona Nyamutoro, has announced plans for a major political rally in Nebbi district, dedicated to celebrating and reaffirming support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
The announcement came on today during a series of grassroots mobilization meetings where Hon. Nyamutoro, who also serves as the Deputy National Coordinator of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), engaged with local leaders, youth groups, and party loyalists.
“The people of West Nile, and Nebbi specifically, have seen the tangible benefits of the peace and stability brought by the NRM government,” Hon. Nyamutoro stated, addressing a gathering of supporters. “It is time for us to come together in a massive show of force and gratitude. We are organizing a grand rally, not just as a party event, but as a celebration of our President and the development he has championed for over three decades.”
The proposed rally, details of which are still being finalized, is positioned as a direct counter to any emerging opposition sentiment in the area. Analysts see this as a strategic effort by the NRM to consolidate its base and energize the youth demographic ahead of the next electoral cycle.
The choice of Nebbi underscores the NRM’s continued focus on the West Nile sub-region, an area that has seen increased government attention in recent years through infrastructure projects and presidential visits. By deploying Hon. Nyamutoro, a prominent and vocal young leader, the party aims to connect with the sizable youth population, emphasizing themes of patriotism, opportunity, and legacy.
The involvement of the PLU, a mobilization arm closely associated with the First Son, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, signals a coordinated effort within the broader MK Movement framework to galvanize support for the ruling party’s vision.
Local NRM chapter officials have expressed strong backing for the initiative. “We are ready to welcome Hon. Nyamutoro and all our supporters. This rally will be a clear message that Nebbi is NRM territory,” said NRM locals. While the exact date is yet to be announced, preparations are reportedly underway, with expectations of a large turnout. The event is poised to feature prominent speakers, cultural performances, and a reaffirmation of the district’s commitment to the NRM’s leadership.
Political observers will be watching closely, as the success of this “grand rally” could serve as a barometer for the ruling party’s strength in the region as the nation looks toward the future.
