Bank of Uganda has trained 50 leaders in Kaberamaido District on financial literacy.
The five-day training, which concluded on Friday at Kaberamaido Hotel, brought together Parish Development ModelĀ  coordinators, Community Development Officers and religious leaders from select groups across the district.
It was organized by BoU in partnership with Hon. Jane Francis Amongin, the NRM flag bearer for Kaberamaido Woman MP seat in the 2026 general elections.
James Bukulu, the Deputy Director of the National Payment System, represented the Governor of Bank of Uganda at the closing ceremony.
He said the training was designed to empower leaders to make informed financial decisions and help them guide their communities on proper financial management.
Bukulu added that participants were trained on loan management, insurance, savings culture, investment, retirement planning, digital financial literacy, financial consumer protection, and working with financial service providers.
Amongin, who was a Resident District Commissioner for Moroto explained that the training was her initiative, which she lobbied from the central bank to benefit the people of Kaberamaido.
She also appealed to the Bank of Uganda to support participants with income-generating projects that can transform their households and fight poverty.
Some of the participants who spoke to Lcc expressed gratitude for the skills gained, saying they were now better prepared to manage finances, embrace a saving culture, and guide their communities towards financial stability.
