STOP USING MOTORCYCLE IF YOU DONT HAVE WHAT IS NEEDED-MAYOR.

Lira city,Uganda|Mayor Lira City has tasked the road usher to be careful when using the road.

Mayor Sam Atul came with this caution while addressing mourners at Amuca primary school during the send off ceremony of Lillian Akaca resident of Amuca in lira city west division,Lira City.

Atul said people are losing their life because of reckless using of the road and above all lacking other important document needed when using the roads.

Atul said many people who have bought motorcycles lack what is needed for them to use as a sign of proper use of the road.

Among the documents that he said few people have is elmet,riding permit, reflector jacket, and insurance.

He said if the police to do random check of motorcycle within the city only one of ten of the motorcycle has what is needed for them to used road

He appeals to the people who have motorcycles to get all what is needed for them to use the road in Uganda.

Road safety remains a major concern in Uganda. In 2024 alone, the country recorded 25,107 road crashes a 6.4 % increase compared to previous years. These incidents resulted in 25,808 casualties, up from 24,728 in 2023, despite ongoing government and civil-society efforts to reduce accidents.
