President Museveni Calls for National Unity and Ethical Leadership.

ENTEBBE, UGANDA – October 8, 2025 – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni today presided over the 27th Annual Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast at the Entebbe State House, an event that fused spiritual reflection with political discourse, emphasizing themes of national unity, integrity, and socio-economic transformation.

The gathering, which brought together legislators, religious leaders, diplomats, and other government officials, served as a platform for the President to outline his vision for the nation’s moral and economic direction.

In his keynote speech, President Museveni anchored his message in the event’s theme, widely reported as “United in Purpose: Fostering National Development through Faith and Integrity.” He drew a direct line between spiritual values and tangible national progress.

 The President reflected on Uganda’s tumultuous past, stating that the current peace was a “divine blessing” that must be guarded jealously. He called on leaders to transcend partisan and ethnic divisions for the sake of the nation’s future.

 A significant portion of his address focused on his long-standing socio-economic model. He reiterated the urgency of moving households away from what he termed “subsistence farming to commercial agriculture and money economy.” He urged Members of Parliament to be champions of this message in their constituencies, emphasizing wealth creation as a path to national self-sufficiency.

 President Museveni challenged the legislators to lead with integrity, stating that corruption and selfishness were among the greatest threats to Uganda’s development. He framed ethical governance not just as a political necessity but as a spiritual and moral duty.

The Prayer Breakfast is traditionally a non-partisan event, and the proceedings were marked by prayers for the nation’s leadership and its citizens. The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Among, who co-hosted the event, echoed the President’s call for unity, thanking him for his “steadfast leadership.”

However, the event’s setting at the State House and the President’s central role underscored his enduring influence over the country’s political and spiritual narrative. Observers note that such events also serve to reinforce the alignment between the executive and the legislature.
